Riding light rail

Light rail fares

ORCA Card

When you use your ORCA card to transfer from a bus to light rail, you don’t have to pay two full fares — your first-leg fare counts toward the second leg of your trip within a two-hour window.

Flat fares for light rail

The Lynnwood Link opening marked big shift in light rail fares, going from a structure based on distance traveled to a $3 flat fare per ride. This means light rail riders with an ORCA card no longer need to “tap off” at the end of their ride.

When arriving at the station, just find the closest ORCA Card reader and “tap on” by placing your card flat against it. One beep and a green light mean you’re good to go.

Tickets & Day Passes

Buy Link tickets or day passes from the station ticket machine with cash, or most debit/credit cards.

Transit Go Ticket App

You can also pay your fare using your smartphone and the Transit Go Ticket app.

Light rail hours and schedules

Link light rail trains run every eight minutes during peak hours and every 10 to 15 minutes during non-peak hours.

Trains run from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m. Monday through Saturday and from 6 a.m. to midnight on Sunday and select holidays. Check your local bus schedule if you plan to connect to light rail by bus, especially for late-night trips.

Visit the Sound Transit Website for schedule details.

In case of a Link service disruption

There may be times where Link service is temporarily interrupted, either due to planned maintenance or an emergency. In those instances Link service will be replaced by Link Shuttle bus service until light rail is restored. Learn more about Link Shuttle service and what to do in the event of service disruption. Information about upcoming planned disruptions is also available on Sound Transit's web site.

Parking at Lynnwood City Center to take light rail

If you're driving to Link service, here are some parking tips

Whether you’re going to work, a sporting event, SeaTac Airport, or just a day in Seattle, you can now ride light rail from Lynnwood. Of course, the best way to connect to the train is by bus, but if you’re driving, you should learn how to access the parking garage at Lynnwood City Center Station.

Sound Transit extended Link light rail on Aug. 30, with new stations at Lynnwood City Center (formerly Lynnwood Transit Center), Mountlake Terrace, Shoreline North/185th, and Shoreline South/148th.

You can access light rail at Lynnwood City Center by:

Finding parking at Lynnwood City Center can be tricky, especially on weekdays. There are a lot of buses going in and out of the center, and you DO NOT want to accidentally drive into the bus loop! Please review the map below to understand where to park and how to access the light rail station and bus stops.

Pictured above is a map of Lynnwood City Center Station showing the light rail station, bus stops, Zip and DART drop-off and pick-up area, Ride Store, and access to the parking garage.

Garage parking tips

There are two vehicle entrances:

  • From 48th Ave W to Level B01 in the garage.
  • From 44th Ave W to Level 1 in the garage. Keep a lookout for the entrance here as it’s easy to miss and accessible only going eastbound on 44th.

If you drive into the center from 46th Ave you must turn at 202nd St or go onto the I-5 HOV ramp. Again, DO NOT drive into the bus loop!

ADA vans and oversized vehicles should enter from 48th Ave.

Use the marked pedestrian walkway. You will come and go out of the north side of the garage on level 1. Remember to follow the signs to get to your bus or the light rail station.

Allow extra time. Traveling from the upper floors of the garage and through the marked pedestrian walkway may take a few additional minutes. Plan your trip accordingly so you don’t miss your bus or train.
