Community Transit takes a holistic approach to sustainability, which involves protecting the environment, fostering economic stewardship, and providing for the well-being of others (employees and customers). This approach is in alignment with the industry standard, Three Pillars of Sustainability and supports the agency’s commitment to be environmentally, financially, and organizationally sustainable over time.
Promoting sustainability has always been a part of Community Transit's history. Every time you ride the bus, you're contributing to a cleaner, greener, environment. In response to the real effects of climate change in our communities, we are actively working to further reduce the impacts of our operations now and in the future.

Our Sustainability Journey Timeline
To affirm Community Transit's commitment to sustainability, we are developing a 5-year Sustainability Action Plan to outline goals and actions we aspire to achieve, along with measures to gauge their completion. The Sustainability Action Plan will be completed at the end of 2024 for official adoption in early 2025.
Earth Month is a great opportunity to dip your toes into integrating sustainability into your life! At Community Transit, our team is developing programming around Earth Month, including action-oriented challenges, participating in the Snohomish County PUD Block Party, and more.
