Coming from Whidbey Island to the mainland?

We've got something new, just for you

Looking for ways to beat ferry lines and get to the mainland from Whidbey Island? Consider leaving your car at home because Community Transit has a brand new route that’s timed with ferry crossings. Route 117 picks you up when you walk off the ferry in Mukilteo and takes you to Alderwood Mall and on to Lynnwood City Center Station. And from there, the world is your oyster!

That’s exactly what a group of Whidbey Island residents are excited about. One sunny September day, a group of about 50 people hopped on the Clinton-Mukilteo ferry and made the voyage over together. Their aim? They wanted to try out route 117 and then check out Link light rail at Lynnwood City Center. Above all, they want to help our planet and save money, too.

Along the way, they sang songs praising the new transit options while their handmade signs bobbed up and down to the tune of “She’ll be coming around the mountain…”. Only, they sang, “We’ll get on the 117 when it comes!”

They stopped in for a visit at the Ride Store at Lynnwood City Center Station to plan their trip and buy ORCA cards. Then they headed to the Link light rail platform. It was a great day to try transit! We’d love to help you plan your trip, too.
