DART Paratransit service to serve additional areas starting September 14

Changes to local bus service allow for more areas for DART riders to access new areas

On Sept. 14, Community Transit is making major changes to bus service. Most DART Paratransit riders won't see changes to their usual DART trips. However, these changes might bring more travel options and expanded hours of travel for DART riders.

DART (Dial-A-Ride Transportation) Paratransit is an on-demand ride sharing service that provides transportation for Snohomish County residents who cannot access or use Community Transit’s fixed-route bus service due to a disability or condition. DART can provide service to destinations within 3/4 of a mile of Community Transit's local bus routes, as well as Sound Transit’s light rail service, during times that Community Transit’s local bus routes operate.

What’s new for DART riders starting September 14?

Expanded travel options
With bus service covering new areas of Snohomish County, DART riders may gain access to new travel areas or have expanded service hours.  Check the Service Change webpage for detailed information about changes to bus service. You can also see a map of the Community Transit DART paratransit service area below with new service areas highlighted in yellow.

Link light rail connections
DART riders will soon be able to connect to Sound Transit's Link light rail in Snohomish County at Lynnwood City Center Station (formerly Lynnwood Transit Center) and Mountlake Terrace Station, enhancing regional mobility. In addition, DART riders will be able to connect with light rail at Shoreline North/185th Station. Paratransit service to Link light rail stations in King County, including the new Shoreline South/148th Station, is provided by King County Metro’s paratransit service.

Planning your DART trip
The easiest way to find out if these changes will impact you is to plan a trip on DART like you normally do. When scheduling a ride on or after Sept. 14, DART riders will be notified if their trip falls outside the updated service area or service times. For any questions about your DART service, please reach out to us at (425) 347-5912.
