Community Transit Summer Events Start in Marysville

Agency will be at parades and community events to answer your transit questions  

Snohomish County, Wash. – Community Transit superhero Oxy Gene will kick off the summer event season by leading a Double Tall bus in the Marysville Strawberry Festival Parade at 7:45 p.m. this Saturday, June 15.

Community Transit will participate in a number of events around Snohomish County this summer to spread the word about our new Swift Green Line service and plans for future service expansion, as well as to answer questions. The agency is also hiring, and will be at events focused on job recruitment. Open positions are listed online at www.communitytransit.org/jobs.

Marysville Strawberry Festival Parade, June 15
Oxy Gene and the agency’s popular Double Tall bus will travel down State Avenue in Marysville this Saturday night, June 15, in the Strawberry Festival Grand Parade. The parade starts at 7:45 p.m. at 76^th Street NE & State Avenue. The parade procession travels south on State Avenue then turns east on Third Street and ends at Alder Avenue. Accessible by transit on Community Transit Routes 201/202, 209 & 222.

Bothell Freedom Festival Grand Parade, July 4
Oxy Gene and a Swift bus will be featured in the Freedom Festival Grand parade starting at Main Street and 104^th Avenue NE in Bothell. The parade starts at 12 p.m. and travels down Main Street to Bothell Way NE. Accessible by transit on Community Transit Route 105.

Mill Creek Festival, July 13-14
See a Swift bus up close, ask questions about the new Swift Green Line service, and learn more about future plans for service expansion during the Mill Creek Festival. Community Transit will be at the south end of Mill Creek Town Center (by Mill Creek City Hall) from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Accessible by transit on Swift Green Line or Community Transit Route 105 both days and Route 115 on Saturday.

Diversity Employment Day Career Fair (Bellevue), July 17
Community Transit will be at this free event focused on diversity and inclusion recruiting from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue. The event is open to the public 18 years of age and older. Attendees can submit their resume and ask questions about the hiring process. A bus driver will also be at the event to talk about the day in the life of a driver and employee benefits. Accessible by transit on Sound Transit Route 535.

Community Transit On-site Job Fair (Everett), July 20
This Saturday job fair is an opportunity for job seekers to get an in-depth introduction to Community Transit at its Merrill Creek Operating Base in south Everett. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., attendees can submit a resume, get tips on the application and interview process, and learn about benefits. In addition to a bus tour, bus drivers and mechanics will be on hand to answer questions. The event will take place in the Community Transit board room at 7100 Hardeson Road in Everett.

Oxy Gene’s Birthday Party at Movies in the Park (Snohomish), July 25
Celebrate the 20^th birthday of Community Transit superhero Oxy Gene. There will be fun and educational pre-movie entertainment for the whole family. Meet Oxy Gene and tour a Swift bus at Willis Tucker Park in Snohomish starting at 7:30 p.m., before the 9:18 p.m. outdoor showing of Incredibles 2. Accessible by transit on Community Transit Route 116.

Nubian Jam (Everett), July 27
Come out to Forest Park to enjoy family fun and celebrate Everett’s diversity. Community Transit will be at this event from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. answering questions about employment opportunities. There will be food, music and live performances focused on African American culture. Accessible by transit on Everett Transit Route 3.

Stanwood Parade, August 3
Oxy Gene and a Community Transit bus will line up at 11 a.m. for the Stanwood-Camano Parade along the Pioneer Hwy. Accessible by transit on Community Transit Route 240.

National Night Out Against Crime (Snohomish), August 6
Oxy Gene and a Swift bus will be at Willis Tucker Park in Snohomish from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Stop by our information booth, tour a Swift bus, and learn more about transportation options, including our new Swift Green Line service with connections to Bothell, Mill Creek and Everett. Accessible by transit on Community Transit Route 116.

Stillaguamish Festival of the River (Arlington), August 10
Community Transit will be at River Meadows Park in Arlington to talk about employment opportunities from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday. At this event people can learn about Native American traditional dance, culture and participate in family-friendly activities.

Movies in the Park (Lake Stevens), August 15
Join us at Lake Stevens Community Park at 7:30 p.m. to get information about transit resources available around Snohomish County, before the 8:40 p.m. outdoor showing of Mary Poppins Returns. Accessible by transit on Community Transit Route 280.

Fair on 44^th (Lynnwood), September 7
Climb aboard a Community Transit bus at Lynnwood’s annual Fair on 44th. Attendees can learn about transportation options as well as job opportunities. The event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 44th Avenue W, located between Lynnwood Library and Fire Station #15. Accessible by transit on Community Transit Routes 112, 196 & 202.

Community Transit is responsible for providing bus and paratransit service, vanpool and alternative commute options in Snohomish County. The agency is building a network of Swift bus rapid transit lines with Swift Blue Line along Highway 99 and the Swift Green Line between Canyon Park/Bothell and Boeing/Paine Field.
